Upcoming PCORI funding announcement addressing substance use
The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) will release a funding opportunity on August 4, 2026, offering up to $60 million for patient-centered comparative effectiveness research on substance use, misuse, and substance use disorders, with applications due January 12, 2027. Application support is available from the Center for HOPES for interested applicants.
PhD student presents research at 2026 AcademyHealth ARM
PhD student Emily Chi presented research at the 2026 AcademyHealth Annual Research Meeting (ARM) in Seattle on antipsychotic medication adherence among individuals experiencing a first episode of psychosis. The study found low adherence rates and identified links between better adherence, greater outpatient care use, and fewer emergency department visits.
BMJ publishes HOPES-led study on healthcare costing for FEP patients
Researchers from The Ohio State University’s Early Psychosis Intervention Center (EPICENTER) and Center for HOPES published a study in BMJ Open identifying factors associated with high healthcare costs among individuals experiencing first-episode psychosis (FEP).
